This A1 Portrait has been influenced by the style of Paul Wright. The painting has been done on transparent acetate using acrylic paint. The image is part of my 'sense of place' concept and aims to project vague hints of heritage and 'sense of place'/identity through colour and depicts less distortion through the use of compact, flowing strokes.
This A1 portrait is based on an image from my own photography and is part of my 'sense of place' concept. I have used oil paint and charcoal on top of an A1 card canvas. The Portrait aims to reflect the distorted sense of place of individuals, struggling with identity, experience.
This A2 portrait is inspired by Elly Smallwood and is part of my 'sense of place' portraiture concept. This piece was done using a range of mediums including Indian ink, charcoal pencil, and oil paint onto cardboard. The image was part of my development when exploring different ways to illustrate distortion. The thick oil paint strokes were done using a pallet knife and aim to depict the broken sense of place in regard to identity that I have been exploring.
Based off my own photography this A2 image contributes towards the development of my final piece in my 'sense of place' concept. The piece is painted on a plastic panel sourced from an old derelict building that has been covered in white acrylic and painted over with oil paint. The image is of my uncle, who prior to the painted had discussed the struggle he has experience with 'sense of place' being part of an ethnic minority and reflects the unfulfilled identity he has led.
Inspired by Jimmy Law, this A3 portrait was painted as part of my 'sense of place' concept. Painted using oil paint onto red card, I found my talent for layering and my love for geometric shapes to depict distortion. The image hopes to invoke some distress and represent the effect of closed identity.
