Sense of Place - Architecture

This A2 drawing was drawn from life as I visited a closed down industrial factory in Digbeth, Birmingham.  The image was drawn using black biro onto acrylic covered acetate. This drawing is part of my 'sense of place' project focusing on the distorted identity perspective of Birminghams industrial buildings.

This drawing was based off a photo I had taken of the old law courts in Birmingham. The A3 image was done using biro, charcoal, pencil and ink and has layers of masking tap across it. Being part of my 'sense of place' project the image aims to reflect some distorted sense of place as it differs from its surrounding architecture.

This image is of my final piece. Each scene has been etched into transparent acrylic using a scribe. The scenes are based off my photography and were used as part as an installation piece. The pieces are hung from the ceiling and when light is shone through the images the etched lines create an enlarged image on the wall they are projected against. The piece aims to create a blurred effect of the city representing industrial identity fading into the past. Each scene is A2 and has been finished using oil pastels.

This A2 image was painted using oil paint. It is part of my 'sense of place' concept. Through this I had began to look into architecture from past periods which have a distorted identity in their modern settings. This image allowed me to work on my ability to be accurate and precise.
